Saraf Salim, MPH is an IRB Administrator for the Committee on the Use of Human Subjects (CUHS). Saraf moved to the Boston area from Long Island in 2015. She has been in research assistant and IRB study manager roles during her undergraduate and graduate degrees, most recently a Program Coordinator at Streetcred, and was a 2019 CDC Scholar and Intern at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Kennedy Krieger Institute in their Maternal and Child Health Careers program. She has completed both her BA and MPH from Boston University through its 4+1 BA/MPH program, receiving her BA in Biology, specialization in Neurobiology, and MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health. Saraf is excited to be in a role focused on ethical research and human subjects protection as she is passionate about representation in research and health equity for historically underrepresented and immigrant communities. She looks forward to being involved in IRB review and collaborating with the Harvard University area research community as an IRB Administrator.
Jonathan M. Girard
Jonathan M. Girard serves as Manager of the Harvard University Area IRB. He manages the IRB Administrator staff and internal training operations. He also maintains the portfolio from researchers in the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Jonathan spearheads external training and outreach efforts, providing in-class trainings for students and staff across all schools at the university. In this role, he leads an Undergraduate Research Training Program (URTP) to assist undergraduate researchers in the ethical conduct of thesis and course projects.
Prior to joining the Harvard University Area IRB in 2015, Jonathan worked at Boston Children’s Hospital, serving concurrently as a Research Coordinator within the Neuropsychology Program and as Psychometrician within the Clinical Research Center’s Behavior Core. Jonathan graduated from Boston University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
