Amanda O’Brien is an IRB Administrator for the Committee on the Use of Human Subjects. She assists researchers with IRB review to ensure the rights and welfare of participants in human research activities.
Prior to coming to Harvard in 2019, Amanda was a public health professional. She has a background in public health nursing, serving vulnerable populations in Northern Virginia. This work inspired her to pursue her master’s degree in epidemiology. After earning her MPH from the University of South Florida, Amanda worked as a communicable disease investigator and engaged in research as a data collector with the University of Washington School of Nursing. Amanda moved to the Boston area in 2018 and is enjoying exploring the rich, cultural and historical sites around her new home.
